Membership

Interested in becoming a member of First Baptist Church Spring Hill?
The method of joining our church depends on your personal background. Are you new to the faith? Are yo transferring from another Southern Baptist Church? Are you transferring from another Christian denomination? Please read the information below that most closely describes your personal situation.

By Profession of Faith and Baptism:
If you have recently accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior or accepted Him a long time ago but have never followed Him in obedience to be baptized, you can join by profession of faith. You will need to take the New Members class and request to be baptized. Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. If you have made this decision please fill out the form on the back page and submit it to one of the pastors.

By Transfer from Another Christian Denomination:
If you have been baptized by immersion, the process is similar to the one below. You will take the New Members class and issue a Statement of Faith.

By Transfer from Another Southern Baptist Church:
If you are transferring from another Southern Baptist Church, please fill out the form available in the How To Join pamphlet that is located on the table at the entry to the Worship Center. Include the name and address of your former church. We sill send them a request for membership transfer letter.

The Mission of First Baptist Church is straightforward and simple: Exalt the Savior; Equip the Saints; and Evangelize the lost. This is done through the five primary functions of the New Testament Church.

Worship:
Create a worshipful atmosphere; encourage participation in the church’s corporate worship events; lead small-group worship experiences; and encourage personal worship in home and family settings.
Fellowship:
Create an atmosphere conductive to members building relationship with one another as together they build on their relationship with God; and lead actions that help new members be assimilated into the fellowship of the church.
Discipleship:
Create an atmosphere that encourages believers to grow in maturity in Christ; monitor the discipleship needs of believers and work with the church’s Discipleship Training director to provide learning opportunities focused on addressing those needs.
Ministry:
Create an atmosphere in which member and prospect can experience direct care and concern for life’s needs and avenues through which they may identify and implement ministry and missions projects that utilize the gifts and abilities of members; and recognize intercessory prayer as an integral part of the ministry and missions activities.
Evangelism:
Create an atmosphere that encourages unsaved people to place their faith in Christ and encourages believers to lead others to Christ.
