SOLVING PROBLEMS

This Sunday, Senior Pastor Dr. Eddie Gandy talks about different kinds of discrimination we’ve seen from the past and that we still see today, serving in the church and priorities. The church also welcomed a new Deacon, who tells us about his path to the church. Below is prerecorded video and audio of this past Sunday’s sermon along with links to the verses that are being discussed.

TEXT: Acts 6:1-7

I. What’s the problem? vs. 1-2

II. How’s it solved? vs. 3-4

III. Lessons Learned? vs. 5-6

IV. The Results: vs. 7

New members classes are normally held on the 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month. Please sign up and confirm ahead of time by contacting our church office Monday through Friday between 9am and 1pm. The next class will be held in January 2021.

On November 10th, we will be preparing for the Operation Christmas Child packing day. Please see Jean Hendry or Pan Lain if you will be available to fold boxes and place gifts on the table. Packing will be on November 11th at 6:30 PM.

Our monthly Food Pantry will be held on November 24th from 9:30am until noon. We need volunteers so if you are interested, please see Meg or Joel Wissmueller. Some of our volunteers will be out of town for the holiday so we could use some extra hands.

In November and December we will be collecting extra gifts for Lottie Moon. Worldwide, as of June 2020, there were 3,585 IMB missionaries. Some of the expense to prepare a missionary to go into the field include $700 for a three month intensive training, $2,000 for vaccinations, $2,300 to train and launch a new missionary.

We do ask that you follow CDC guidelines when visiting for the health and safety of everyone.

WILL I HEAR?

This Sunday, Senior Pastor Dr. Eddie Gandy talks about our tendency to ignore what God tells us and cites the example of Korah. He also reminds us that God revives us, that we need to be revived and that when the people are revived, the nation becomes revived. Below is prerecorded video and audio of this past Sunday’s sermon along with links to the verses that are being discussed.

TEXT: Psalm 85

Introduction: Background for Psalm 85

I. What God Has Already Done?: Vss. 1-3

II. Prayer for Remaining Afflictions: Vss. 4-7:

III. Hope in His Promises: Vss. 8-13

Conclusion: Proverbs 3:6 Will We Hear Him?

New members classes are normally held on the 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month. Please sign up and confirm ahead of time by contacting our church office Monday through Friday between 9am and 1pm.

Operation Christmas Child: We have done a great job collecting items for the boxes. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Please see Jean Hendry for any questions about what else is needed. Please see our calendar for information on prep and packing dates.

Our monthly Food Pantry will be held on November 24th from 9:30am until noon. We need volunteers so if you are interested, please see Meg or Joel Wissmueller. October’s Food Pantry saw 40 families and 116 individuals.

In December we will be collecting for Lottie Moon. Your generosity transforms lives around the world. An undecorated tree will be placed on the stage. For every $25 dollars collected an ornament will be placed on the tree. Our goal is to raise at least $1000 and put at least 40 ornaments on the tree. Why give to this cause? “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14). Every day 154,937 people die without Christ. That’s why we need to support our missionaries!

We do ask that you follow CDC guidelines when visiting for the health and safety of everyone.

CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH

This week, Senior Pastor Dr. Gandy opened the sermon with a clip from the film A Few Good Men. The well known scene shows an exchange between the characters at the trial with one saying, “I just want the truth” and the other responding with, “You can’t handle the truth.” Unfortunately, because of the transition, a small section at the beginning of the sermon was not captured in our recording and we do apologize. Below you can find both audio and video recordings from this past Sunday’s service.

New members classes are normally held on the 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month. Please sign up and confirm ahead of time.

This month’s food pantry will be held on September 22nd. Last month, we were able to help 29 families and provided food for 81 people.

We are still collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child. We still have 10 more weeks to collect items and shipping costs for each box. Because of your generous donations, we are 1/3rd of the way towards our $900.00 goal. The packing party is tentatively scheduled for November 11 at 6:30 pm.

For the safety of others, we ask that everyone continue to follow CDC guidelines at the premises.

Covid-19 Precautions

These are confusing times for many people but, Don’t Panic! God’s got this, really. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still err on the side of caution and precaution though.

As of this weekend, we are not changing our regular Sunday worship schedule; however, will only have our 10:30 am service and we do ask for the following:

There will be no small groups and the schedule for Wednesday is pending. This schedule change is effective for the next two weeks and/or until further notice.

Other schedule changes that should be noted are as follows:

Food Pantry – Cancelled.

Monthly Pot Luck – Cancelled.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Cancelled.

Some of you may be wondering how you’ll get some of your necessities and other items. Currently, most Hernando County residents have access to grocery home delivery service and grocery pickup. Here are some details about two of the services offered in our area:

Instacart for Publix can be downloaded on your mobile phone or tablet here:

iOS (apple) – Instacart App – iTunes Store

Android – Instacart app on Google Play

Or accessed via website: Publix on Instacart

Walmart Pickup can be downloaded to your mobile phone or tablet here:

iOS (apple) – Walmart Pickup App – iTunes Store

Android – Walmart Pickup App on Google Play

Or accessed via website: Walmart Pickup

Neither service will force you to tip; however, it is suggested, especially for Instacart, as they personally do all the shopping for you and do not get paid by the stores.

Now then, there has been a lot if information circulating in the media and on social media. Some of it is true, some of it isn’t. Some of it is sensationalized while some might downplayed. It’s hard to tell these days. Below will be some resources that can hopefully help clear things up.

First of all, here is the CDC website’s information on Covid-19 (coronavirus): https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/get-your-household-ready-for-COVID-19.html . There you can find how to prepare, how to protect, what to do if you feel sick and lots of other helpful information.

Here is a helpful illustration from the WHO on how to properly wash your hands:

The WHO (World Health Organization) also has a helpful website that gives information on the world impact of Covid-19. Their Covid-19 information can be found here: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019

These last three links are for Florida and Hernando County residents. You can find County and State announcements and see how the virus is impacting our area. They can be found here:

Florida Health: http://www.floridahealth.gov/diseases-and-conditions/COVID-19/covid19-toolkit.html

Hernando County Health Department: http://hernando.floridahealth.gov

Hernando County Sheriff’s Office: https://www.hernandosheriff.org

We encourage you to continue your giving to the Church as God lays it on your heart. Most of all, please remember to pray and know that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. As a church, we are here for you so do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of service in any way. Be sure to stay safe out there.

Crossing Over

This Sunday, Senior Pastor Dr. Eddie Gandy asks us some thought provoking questions about where we are in life and if we are where we need to be. He explains that we need to decide where we need to be and to keep our eyes on God. How we need to make a choice as well as prepare for it and reminds us that until we get to Heaven, we will all have battles to fight. He uses the example of Moses and the Israelites during their 40 year journey to cross over.
